What is an Optical Mouse?
An optical mouse uses digital processing technology of the camera and
used to compare and track the mouse position, but a ball and rollers
in older mice. This technology, which was introduced by Agilent
Technologies in 1999 helps users more performance without maintenance
and cleaning of older mice need.
Within each optical mouse is a small camera that takes more than a
thousand images per second snapshot. A small LED (light emitting
diode) provides light underneath the mouse to help, small differences
in the surface of the base to mark the mouse. These differences are
back to the camera, which uses digital processing to compare the
images, reflecting the speed and direction of motion. This differs
from older-technology mice in which a round ball rolled against a
mouse pad to indicate movement.

Optical mice have a number of advantages over older technologies. One
of the major advantages of removing the mouse ball, to scratch often
requires cleaning the accumulated dirt from the ball or the rollers
inside. Since there are no moving parts in optical mice, almost no
regular maintenance or cleaning. Another advantage is that digital
processing often leads to a smooth and accurate performance than
previous technologies. Optical mice do not normally require a mouse
pad and can be used on many surfaces, including those that are not
entirely flat.

Optical mice are now increasingly used in both homes and businesses.
As technology and competition has grown, prices fall for optical mice
with a range of $ 15-50, similar to the technology left mouse ball.
Usually there are special requirements for optical mice and PC
installation is usually simple as connecting the device to the
computer. A variety of optical mice can both Windows, Macintosh and
Linux and is not PS / 2 or USB.
